Five multi-purpose superfoods

Superfood: a nutrient-rich food considered to be especially beneficial for health and well-being.

Although superfoods tend to have fats and proteins, they are not only good for your body. Superfoods can be amazing for your exterior beauty, and help you with being mentally healthy and happy! Superfoods are often in a pure and raw form like blueberries or spinach and offer many different types of health benefits. Whether you were wearing it on your face or putting in your mouth, (or both) these foods are guaranteed to make you feel and look your best.

According to, eggs are one of the most nutritious foods available. They have vitamin A, 4 different types of vitamin B, vitamin D as well as calcium and zinc. They also are an amazing source of protein with 6g per egg!  They also have 5 g of fat, (which doesn’t make you fat!) This fat is necessary to feel full and great for your hormonal health. This leads to another amazing point about eggs. They make you feel very full and satisfied meaning that you won’t eat as many calories!

Eggs are also really amazing for your hair. Not only do they contain biotin which helps with hair growth, but you can apply eggs directly to the scalp to help condition your hair, and treat dandruff. Because of the protein in the egg whites, it works to strengthen hair, making it longer, stronger and shinier.

Another superfood is black beans. Black beans are high in antioxidants and provide protein as well as zinc and copper that you need to go about your day. They have many properties to help with heart health including lowering the risk of developing heart disease and strokes.

Black beans are a great food to snack on because they are very low in sugar, which prevents insulin in the bloodstream from sneaking in- creating you to lash out on a snack attack! Because they have great amounts of protein and fiber, they will help with balancing your hormones and preventing cravings and moods swings. Besides nutritionally, beans help prevent skin aging prematurely by the harsh rays of the sun and also help prepare your skins damage college in cells.

Avocado is one of the most well-known superfoods because of it’s amazing health benefits. It has so many micronutrients that are essential to our diets including fiber, potassium, vitamins E, C, B and K, and folic acid.

Avocado lowers risk of prostate and breast cancer, cardiovascular diseases and helps reduce inflamed tissues, muscles, and joints. As you might’ve seen through the pattern of these superfoods, avocados are also a healthy fat that will keep you feeling full and healthy.

Avocados contain sterolin.  This is a protein that helps reduce age spots as well as scars and sun damage on your skin. It also can be used directly on hair and skin to help moisturize because of its natural fats and oils.

Salmon is a brain booster of a superfood. It helps improve memory while relaxing the brain. It also is very helpful in treating Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease. It helps produce neurotransmitters and protect neurons from injury. It has been shown that with people who experience depression, consuming salmon can help.

We all love her beauty sleep, don’t we? Salmon is a great source of tryptophan. This is 100% natural like melatonin. It is a sedated element that can help you fall asleep and get a good night’s rest. Salmon is a great source of collagen. Collagen does not only protect against damage to joints and bones but also helps make you look younger and brighter. Collagen makes your skin more firm and plump as well as moisturized. By eating healthy protein and fat like salmon, this moisture can help prevent signs of aging.

Edamame is a type of soybean that has many types of health benefits. It is packed with 21% of protein and 19% of fiber needed for the day. It has many important vitamins and minerals as well such as magnesium and riboflavin. 1/2 cup of a serving of edamame only has 120 calories. Although this may seem like a lot for a simple bean, this much contains 9 g of fiber which will help with digestion and also feeling full resulting in weight loss by eating less calories.

The superfood comes in many forms such as raw beans, noodles, vegetable chips and many more. It is a very inexpensive and superfood to buy that is also plant-based and good for the environment and our animal friends!

Although there are so many amazing superfoods to explore, these top foods have made an impact on my life both physically and mentally over the past year in exploring my health journey. By finding some fun recipes in trying them out for yourself, you may find your new favorite superfood!
